IPPT Test
Wohoo!!! Thank God!!!I just finished my IPPT – Individual Physical proficiency Test, at Bedok Camp 2 earlier this evening.
I’ve been attending RT – remedial training, twice a week at Bedok Camp 2 the past 2 months as an IPPT defaulter. Due to ignorance on my part and miscommunication from my reservist unit, I didn’t take my annual IPPT last year.
Anyway, after 2 months of pretty intensive training; today’s the day of reckoning. I used to do pretty well for my IPPT and was hoping to get at least the monetary reward of $200.
I have to score at least a C grade or 3 points for every station and complete my 2.4km run under 12:50 to achieve the “silver” award.
Thank God for His enabling:)
My results are as follows:
Sit up - 35 - 5 pts
Broad Jump - 207cm - 3 pts
Chin Up - 8 - 5 pts
Shuttle Run - 10.8sec - 3 pts
2.4km Run - 12:43 - 3 pts
And I got the silver award. Wohoo!!! I’m so stoked!!!
I’ve made a resolution of sorts to train regularly and do even better next year for my IPPT.
When I was running around the track, I was praying and focusing on finishing the race at a certain time. I’m reminded of 1 Corinthians 9:24, “Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.”
Paul encourages us to run the Christian race with a focus in mind and that would be to win the many crowns that our Lord and Savior has prepared for us. The same way as I was running the race, I was focused on winning the silver award.
I’d actually taken 3 attempts at the Broad Jump test 3 times before I scored the 3 points. We should all persevere to win our Heavenly rewards. It not so much the quantity of our life’s challenges, trials and tribulations but of our ability to overcome them with His help.
God never promised us a smooth sailing life after our salvation but he did promise He would be with us and never forsake us. Hebrews 13:5
As there were more than a hundred if us taking the test, we were split into groups of 20 – 40 to run the 2.4km test.
I was placed in the 2nd group of about 40 runners. While we were running, the rest of the people were up at the grand stand watching us. Again, I’m reminded of Hebrews 12:1 , ” Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,”
Again, life on earth is not with temptations but by God’s grace and power, let us learn to “resist the devil and he will flee from us. James 4:7
