Post camp rambling

Finally found some time to blog. It’s been a while since my last update. I was away at my church camp and it was a blast!!! I had a GREAT time with the teenagers in my church.

I’ve been pretty busy with repair work but my last couple of “jobs” were all pro-bono. I’ve got another “pro-bono” job tomorrow morning. I don’t mind that but I would definitely like to add some “moolah” into my coffers soon.

A couple of blessings to share. I’m the local dealer for Skreddy pedals – you can clink the link on the left margin for more info, and all 8 pedals were sold out or rather collected last Saturday. 7 of the pedals were already pre-sold. I’m astonished by the amazing response to the pedals as I was under the impression that they may be too expensive for the local musicians. I guess I underestimated the spending power of the local musicians. Marc aka Skreddy do build amazing sounding pedals tho.

I’ve received feedback from some owners of the Skreddy pedals and they all agree that the Screw Driver OD/Fuzz is the best pedal they’ve tried. One of them owns several boutique dirt boxes and he’ll be selling them all soon.

The bad news is Skreddy upped his prices recently and the new pedals would see for 17% more than what I sold my 1st order for.

I got a very nice e-mail from another custom amp/effect builder from Pensacola, FL when I got home from camp. This was a very pleasant surprise as I’m a fan of this person’s work. He’s also a brother-in-Christ and I understand he’s received a lot of flack for standing up for his faith. More power to such folks especially in the U.S. where Christians vocal about their faith are being ostracized.

I’m also glad to hear this brother giving God all glory and thanks. Just to let you guys know how successful his business is. He has no web presence, his pedals sells for twice what Skreddy sells for and there’s a 6 month pre-paid wait list. That means you pay full price and wait 6 months for your pedal. This is like the dream of every home business owner.

Just when I thought I can look forward to some year-end chillin’, there’re some “controversy” about yours truly on some Internet forum again. Why can’t you people leave me alone. This is like a vicious circle repeating itself every couple of months.

An overzealous fan of my work has been “promoting” my cause and that ruffled the feathers of some petty minded folks and what started to be a “where can I get this guitar repair done” thread got into a name calling/bashing thread. I hardly participate in the subject forum but my name is always brought up. I’d mentioned on a few occasions to the overzealous fan that I appreciate him speaking out for me and I can do without all this nonsense. The main gripe from those disgruntled folks are my repair rates. They can’t believe I can get away with what I charge but they don’t realize how much effort I put into the guitars I work on. Besides, most of my clients think I’m worth the extra coin. There’re some people who can fix a guitar but doing your best pales in comparison to knowing what’s best.

There’re so many insecure people out there. It’s funny how people can come into an opinion of another person without both parties meeting in the 1st place. If you guys are confident of your abilities/skills, let your work show. No point getting all flustered when my name is mentioned. Go take a chill pill dudes…………………………
