4 days to Christmas!!!

Well, after 2 days of rain, thank God the sun’s out yesterday. It has been a real drag with the constant downpour and I for one am so thankful to feel the sun on my back when I’m out.

After working on a guitar in the morning, I met up with Ter, Lynn Shan and Cat at Borders. We’re all attending Joan’s school concert at the Esplanade later in the evening. However, before that, we planned to surprise Amanda Jong at her work place in Seng Kang. After 2 pretty long and boring bus ride, we made it to Amanda’s workplace but instead of giving her a surprise, we got a surprise from her. She wasn’t working yesterday!!!! Ter managed to get her on the phone and sweet Amanda cycled down to meet us but our meeting was short as I’d arranged to meet Audrey at City Hall for dinner before our Esplanade concert date.

We had a great time at the Esplanade. I understand Joan and her band mates rehearsed diligently for their concert and their performance was commendable. It must be exciting for the band to play at such a grand venue. I would be very excited to perform at the Esplanade.

Thank God for the love and generosity of uncle Jeremiah and aunty Esther who sent all of us home sans for Audrey whose mom came to pick her up at the Esplanade after the concert.

Change of subject.

No thanks to the rain, business has been slow but that’s alright with me as I’ve been bitten by the podcasting bug recently.

Hwee Min bought Kim Cheong an iPod Nano for his birthday and guess who has to teach the couple how to use the gadget. Anyway, I finally relented and installed iTunes on my notebook. I’m not keen to install “unnecessary” software on my notebook. Well, since I have iTunes installed, I’ve been converting all the on-line sermons and music in my notebook to mp3 format. Most of them are actually in mp3 format but I have some in WMA format. Since Monday, I‘ve been busy downloading mp3 sermons and videos from one of my all time favorite preacher. No prizes for guessing who he is.

I can’t wait to share my downloaded files with Kim Cheong and pastor Mike. I’m in love with iTunes and I’m ever more resolved to switch to Apple for my next notebook change. Steve Jobs is one smart cookie and I think Bill Gates made enough $$$ off me.

On hindsight, I should’ve switched over to Apple when I purchased my IBM Thinkpad 3 years ago. Thank God my present T41 is still going strong but God willing, I’ll get my Apple Macbook by mid-2007.

That’s the top of my wish list at the moment. As Christmas is just around the corner, I’ve made out my annual wish list. After the Apple Macbook, the next item on my wish list is ……….

A Tyler Studio Elite guitar. I know exactly what I want. It has to be an Alder body in Burning Water finish with bare forearm contour. Suhr V60s neck and middle and SSV bridge pickups with Suhr SSC backplate. Maple board and FAT neck with 6105 fretwire; Wilkinson VSVG trem. Gotoh staggered tuning machines; 1 5/8” nut width. Last but not least, no Demeter midboost.

It’s almost like a Mike Landau model except for the FAT neck, Maple board and Wilkinson VSVG trem.

I’ve been bugging Lisa for years to get me the guitar as the be all and end all present for me and she keeps telling me to keep hoping and wishing. Hahahaha.

For the uninitiated, the pictured guitar is very close to the described above.

I’ve to confess I’m already a Tyler owner and the guitar is the best Strat style guitar I’ve ever played and trust me, I’ve played lots!!! I’ve been very blessed and privileged to handle a lot of expensive gear and I’m very, very happy with my present gear. I don’t really need another guitar but I’m always on the lookout for one.

Since I’m in a rambling mood, I’ll ramble on. I’m still wide awake although it’s almost 2am. I think I’ll go wish my American supplier a Merry Christmas after I’m done here.

4 more days to Christmas and I’m excited. I saw our church’s musical rehearsal on Sunday and kudos to everyone who put in the effort for the musical. I’ve invited some friends and I hope they’ll make it on Saturday.

My only disappointment is the lack of Netcasters. I understand from the Netcaster IC that there’s not been a response to the call for Netcasters for our Christmas outreach effort. He’d even texted some of the people to no avail. This is so sad. We have at least 100 trained Netcasters but sadly, most of them have lost the passion for evangelism. Well, maybe they’re doing some evangelism on their own but I’m really surprised nobody informed either Kim Cheong or myself of their desire to be part of the Netcaster team except for a couple of teens who’re not even trained.

This phenomenon is not new to us. We always have a lack of Netcasters during Christmas and some other outreach events.

I’m praying the Lord of the Harvest will raise up a new generation of Netcasters who are God fearing, teachable, committed and faithful to His cause. Now that should be my Christmas wish for the year!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays all.
